Stanford Reunion
We made the trek up to The Farm for Lawrence's 15 year reunion. As always, we had a great time. As much as we didn't want to like it, the new Stanford Stadium was kinda cool. It was great to catch up to all the classmates.

Festival at Sea
Nikki and I just returned from the 2007 Festival at Sea cruise. Festival at Sea is an African American themed cruise. Everything from the on-board entertainment to the elevator music is from an African American perspective (food notwithstanding - no Collards in the dining room).
We had a blast. We went with a group with 16 friends and family members. The ports of call included: Key West, Nassau, Ocho Rios, and Grand Cayman. We were fortunate to dodge Hurricane Dean all week.
We didn't take the kids this year but we'll definitely include them in the fun next year.
If anyone is interested in booking, let me know. The good cabins typically sell out by mid Oct.
A few pics below.

June - A Month of Celebration
June has been a good month. We've had lots to celebrate. For starters, we celebrated Nikki's completion of her Master's program in Educational Administration. I'm extremely proud of her as she managed to graduate Summa Cum Laude while working full time and taking care of us.

Nikki's graduation party was held at the Regency West in Leimert Park. The theme of the party was - Grad Night. Guests wore what they wore to their High School Grad Night and posed for cheesy high school dance photos.
I had to go with the high low haircut and break out the tapered khakis, leopard skin creepers, and turtleneck. Nikki went with the B.B.D. baggy jeans and Brand Nubian-esq Rugby shirt.
We had a good time with friends and family. DJ LG had the crowd on the floor all night.

Next on the list was Lila's kindergarten graduation. Granny, Idear, Melvin, LJ, Mommy and Daddy came to cheer.
My grandmother, we call her Idear, has never missed a single graduation of any of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren (from kindergarten through graduate school). This means that she has traveled to Palo Alto, Berkeley, Atlanta, New Orleans, and Natchitoches to see her children walk the stage.
It's on to Mrs. Lew in first grade next year for Lila.

Finally, LJ made the All Star team. Our league has 2 9-10 year All Star Teams - one with mostly 10 year olds, and the other with a mix 0f 9 and 10. LJ made the "B" team. They started the tournament 3-0 before losing 2 games. They ended up in 3rd place out of 16 teams. The stats sight for the All Star team are here. You can find our baseball blog here and the stats site here.
